I love top down pullover

Yup, the Cable-Down Raglan is DONE!!! I love the sweater, because there was no seaming, (well a little bit to sew the underarm) made me finish even faster.



The yarn that I used was Misti International Pima Cotton/Silk. I have used about 6.5 skeins of it. I like the color of it. It's soft, but it seems to have lots of lints even I haven't washed it yet. All in all, I am proud of myself that I can finish it before the semester starts. I will wear it next week no matter what, even it's going to be 60s degrees...

Last night Andrew and I went to watch Cloverfield with my friend and her husband last night. The movie supposed to start at 10pm. Previews last about 15-20 mins. And we left around 11-ish. I think I was interested into the content of the movie, but the camera just moved so much and so fast that it made me really sick. I think I have watched about 20 mins of the movie, and listened to it for the rest of time. But still, my friend and I were both so sick that we have decided to go. So people who can't knit during car rides, please don't watch this movie.

SnB @ my house

Yup, I was the host of the bitches. We did the potluck thing. We had soup, salad, cheese dip, pasta, dessert, and drinks. We ate, we knitted, and we laughed... really hard for 7.5 hours.

For knitting, I am still working on my Cable-Down Raglan. I am almost finishing the first sleeve (if I stop blogging, I may have a chance to finish the first sleeve tonight).


May be because I have been using those pair of Knitpick Options to knit the raglan for so long, the tips have changed its' color.


I finished knitting the Beaufort Hat. I use a ball of Rowan RYC Soft Lux. I think it's perfect for the pattern. I am very satisfied, although it's a bit too long for me.


And I got the last package from my secret knitting pal. I got a Melody PEZ, a Hello Kitty washcloth pattern, and 7 balls of Plymouth Royal Bamboo in red. I am in love!!! They are so soft! I also got a card from her. She was very thoughtful that she hopes my dad get better soon. Thank you very much pal! I am touched.

Snowy day

We got lots of snow this morning. Don't believe it? Here is a prove. (Look at that layer of snow on the picnic table...)


This weekend, I didn't do much. Andrew and I went grocery shopping, watched a couple of movies at home, do some laundry, and I have knitted for a good amount of time. I have casted on the Falling Water Scarf. I knitted this for Andrew's Grandma's birthday. I actually knitted a couple of repeats, and thought I didn't like it. So I frogged it. After talked to Costumechick, she said the pattern would turn out pretty after it has been blocked, and I trust her and casted it on again. She was right, after I blocked it, I love it!!! I hope Grammy is going to like it too.

Then I have made some progress on my Cable-Down Raglan. Now I am on the part that it has less cabling in the pattern which I can still handle it. There will be more cabling coming on the bottom of the sweater, it will be fun I am sure.

My Yarn Wall

OK, I said, from the last post, I am going to show something off, and here it is...


My yarn wall! I actually have this book shelves from Ikea for couple years. I think last year, one of our SnBers found this shelves was being sold by a closing yarn store. And ever since, we refer this shelves as "yarn wall". It has been used in my computer room in the old house. I put books on it. I know Jenn has one too (as I remember). I was kind of jealous that she could fill up the yarn wall with yarn instead of books. Now, after we moved, I asked DH if I could have a crafty room and would like to use the book shelves as a yarn wall. "Sure!" he said. And there it is, I have one! But I don't have enough yarn to fill it up yet. My MIL saw it when she came over to help us move, she said" oh yeah, you will(fill it up)". Haha, she knows me too well! If you notice, there is a cube on the top first right which is empty, and it's because it's reserved for the lace yarn(they are coming soon)...

And tonight, I couldn't hold it any longer, I casted on a project... you will know the reason why I have to do it tonight(Wednesday). Even couple rows, I have to start tonight. It's the Cable-Down Raglan from IK spring 2007. I am using Misti Cotton, Pima Cotton/Silk. Karen, you can pet this one! :D

P.S. Karen, yes my mother-in-law knows how much fun I have been having in SnB. I always mention all the fun things that happens and how great/supportive my friends are there. She always visits my blog because she cares about me.

Relaxing weekend

Monday, I got back a test result from the thermal class. I failed... my first failed test in my U.S. life. Of course I was very upset. I studied, but I didn't get a good grade, very disappointing. However, I did have a very relaxing weekend to make myself feel better. I spent lots of time in knitting, yay!!

First of all, I have finished the Feather and Fan socks.
Secondly, a project that I have been working on. It's almost finished, do you know what that is? I am sure you have seen this pattern before. ;)
Lastly, I have started 2 new projects. One is Lacy Waves Top from the book Lace Style. I have 3/4 of the back piece done, will shape the armholes next. And the second one is another kitchen hand towel.
It's time for signing up class for the fall semester. *sigh. I will have all night classes again. I really don't like it. I remember last couple semesters ago, I also had all night classes, and my living schedule was so messed up. I would get home from school around 10pm, had dinner and went to bed at 4am. And then got up around noon or 2pm and went to school at 5pm. I didn't even spend much time with Andrew. It was so tough. And now that I know it's going to happen again, I feel so down. I am not liking it already. Plus all night classes means that I can't attend Wednesday and Thurday night SnB meeting. *crying.

Bragging

If I say it in a nicer way, I like to share my good stuff with people. If I say it in a "truly" way, yes, I like to show off :D I am a honest person. I don't like to hide my feelings, unless it's "necessary". Some people would hate me, but some people would appreciate my honesty. Anyway, here we go...

I have finally finished the Kyoto sweater. The whole seaming process was the delaying factor. It's doesn't look to nice, but it's done and fit me!!

I finally shopped outside of AC Moore. There was a SuperBowl Sale at Yarn Garden and Yarn Barn yesterday. I finished all my homework, well, most of them, so that I could sneak out for couple hours yarn shopping. I only got sock yarns at Yarn Garden which had 41% off of all yarn. So these are what I got. I didn't get anything in Yarn Barn because there so like 40 people waiting in line to the register, and the store was ridiculously packed, with people of course. Plus, not much nice yarn were on sale... very disappointing. So I got 3 hanks of Cherry Tree Hill's superwash merino fingering weight in (from the left) sugar maple, spainsh moss, and spring frost, and a ball of scheepjes? I don't know what language it is... 75% of virgin wool and 25% of nylon. So 4 pairs of socks, they will keep me busy for long time.

After yarn shopping, Andrew and I went fish shopping. Since we have been rearranging the living room, we thought we might get away of the fish tank. But we still had 2 fish left, which we don't want to just "kill" them. So we bought a small fish tank for them. And then after we moved some furniture, we found out the big fish tank actually wasn't really too big for the living room. So we kept it. We bought 8 more fish for the big fish tank and 3 gold fish for the small tank. So who is the happiest now? Sticky of course.

Lastly, I need to show "this", because, as for studying, I never did good when I was in HK. I am not smart, but "this" can show how hard I have been studying. I am happy that I do well in studying now. It may be the last time I have "it", that's why I have to show "it" to everyone.

Thin or Fat?

Last week, I had a doctor appointment. During the visiting, I had to stand on the scale, I weighted the same as last time I visited which was couple months ago. Then I went shopping for jeans in the same day. I couldn't believe I have to wear 2 size larger than then before. Is that possible that I weight the same but my body is bigger? Very weird and disappointing. I used to wear XS, now I have to wear M.

Yesterday, Andrew and I were listening to the radio. The host was talking about the the ladies want to be thin not because we want to be, it's because the guys want us to be. It's funny, I think it's so true. I used to be quite big (compare with my Hong Kong friends), then my ex wanted my to be thinner, I went on diet which I lost some weight. (Lu Lu, I am not blaming you). I did think I look prettier since I was skinnier. Then after I married Andrew, he seems that he doesn't mind my weight at all, so I don't worry about dieting. Sometimes I think I should be a bit skinnier, should be on diet. But on the other hand, I love to eat, I think I look ok and I am happy what I am now. I know it sounds crazy that I think I am fat, my friends here in the US always tell me I am not fat at all. However, all my frineds in Hong Kong are so much thinner, compare to them I am fat. Well, now I always tell myself, as long as Andrew doesn't mind and I am in the US, I would be fine, I guess. :)

Chinese Class

Yes I am taking Chinese this semester. I am so happy and excited because I have wanted to learn Madarin so bad for looooooong time. This is how the story started. I signed up Human Communication CO100 to fill the communication elective slot in my curriculum. For some reason the number "100" just didn't sound right to me, I was afraid "100" class was not creditable. So, I went to my advisor to see if CO100 was the right class to take yesterday. The first reaction I got from him was "you're chicken, that is the easiest class." So that meant I took the right class. But, he said I could also take foreign language instead. Is Chinese ok? Yes. So I went to Conversational Chinese CN 101 yesterday at 1pm. (101 sounds much better than 100). The Chinese professor talked to me after class and suggested me to take CN 102 instead of 101. So, I also went to CN 102 at 2:30pm. After that class, the professor said it's ok for me to take 102, I would be bored in 101. So finally, I dropped CO100, and signed up CN 102. Yay!! Now I could learn Chinese and get the credits that I need to graduate. For the people who is thinking I am cheating, I am Chinese, why do I have to take a Chinese class, just to raise my GPA? No, that is nto the reason. Yes I am Chinese, but I speak Cantonese, not Mandarin. I have been dying to learn Mandarin for long time, since I think it's a shame that I don't know how to speak Mandarin. And most of my friends are from Mainland china and Tai Wan, so it would be much easier to communicate with them if I know the language. Good to luck to me on the Chinese class!!

Mission accomplished!!

My mission was to attend all four SnB meetings in a week. I have been all Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday, and Monday(yesterday) meetings. I have one more day to knit... Tomorrow will be my last fun day before school starts :(

I have finished a couple of projects lately. First, my first pair of socks. Althought they are simple, but hey, since it's my first pair, I wanted it to be easy to be knitted. And both Choppy and Sticky like the socks very much. Sticky would not stop licking them. Weirdo...

I have also finished the Valentine's hand towel tonight. I want to say that I don't like the cotton yarn, it's very rough, but the product is practical. I have used a heart shape button for the towel, however the picture really doesn't show it. And the heart shape pattern doesn't look so good?! oh well, it's done.

I spent lots of time this afternoon to sew up the shoulders and sleeves of the Kyoto sweater. Man, I am not liking it. I like the sweater, I just don't like sewing. Apparently, I suck. Look at my first seam...
