Why didn't I go to SnB tonight?

Okay Ladies, I am going to explain this...

2 days ago, Andrew found that my external hard drive was making some loud noises, not a good sign. So, we tried to back up our stuff in that hard drive, but it's was too late, it went dead before we could back it up. Yesterday, Andrew tried to save its' life for long time, at the end, still dead. Last night, I was REALLY really really upset that I have lost all my pictures, knitting patterns(the ones that I bought and those secret group ones), and some important school stuff. I couldn't sleep last night, 3 am in the morning, my eyes were still wide open. Then, I am having a crazy working schedule that I need to get up at 6am. Basically, I got less then 3 hours of sleep last night. I got home from school around 5pm, did some household work and surfed internet, blah blah blah... next thing happened was the phone ringing next to me on the sofa. YUP, Jennsquared calling at around 7:30pm and asked where I was. "I am at home, I felt asleep." Story ended.

I think it's a pretty good excuse not to attend SnB tonight.

News: my heart is still broken by losing all the data from the hard drive and I DO have something to vent to my girl friends... May be I should write up an email tomorrow or this weekend to you guys while I am sending some muffins to someone else...

Sorry, no pictures yet, I am too upset to upload picture since I usually store my pictures in my external hard drive.

OH NOOOOOOOOO! That really blows!!! Sorry to hear! Maybe you can try IT tomorrow. They do data recovery stuff on Hard Drives! (it's not like I don't trust Andrew, I just don't know if they do anything different!)

Umm, yep, Phoebe. That's a good excuse.

So sorry to hear about your computer troubles. I hope there is some way of fixing it.

And yes, please vent to us. That's what we're here for.

blasted hard drive. that's just not right! I don't know anything about computers, except that they turn on and magically work, so I'm no help there, but I have a suggestion for the purchased patterns! E-mail as many of the places you bought them from as possible, and explain your case and beg. At least some of the companies will give you new copies. knitters are nice that way. oh, and if you need me to slap the EHD around for you, I will.

Oh no! I feel your pain. I've been the victim of crapped-out hard drives. The girls have given you some good tips - maybe they'll work.

Awaiting the email - and I'd be more than happy to help you bake some muffins.

Oh no! That really sucks. And to have such a busy schedule on top of it all is just a bad cherry on a sundae of awfulness. I hope the muffins and the venting helps, and I second Costume Chick's suggestions -- I bet some people would resend you the patterns if you wrote and asked.
I'm sorry about your pictures and school stuff, too. I lost everything I wrote in college, and I'm still really bummed about it. Do you think a computer repair place could rescue the data? It can be expensive, but if they can get files off of computers that have been on fire, maybe there's hope? Hang in there!

That completely sucks about the hard drive. There are companies that specialize in seemingly totally dead HDs (assuming Andrew isn't one of those specialists!), which might be worth a shot?
